Darn! No chocolates. No roses. No dinner in a fancy restaurant. Double darn! Did I miss Valentine's Day?
Actually I rank Valentine's Day right up there with Ground Hog's Day. In fact, those cute little critters might be a lot more fun to work with.
But make a Valentine Tag I did for the February Tim Holtz Tag Challenge. I am trying very hard to follow him this year. And of course I did not have half the stuff he used although I am sure what I have paid for his trip to the United Kingdom. And his blackboard technique? Yeah right, I spent two days trying my bestest to make it work. No luck so I did my own technique found on YouTube. Well I guess it really wasn't my technique now was it?
I am entering this tag into the Tim Holtz February Tag Challenge.
I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend. So sorry about the cold temps that my friends in the northern United States are suffering. We actually had seven inches of snow the other day but it is melting faster than I would like. I know that the United Kingdom has had a time with flooding and I understand that France has not gotten off Scot free either. Believe it or not, there was a 4.1 earthquake about 150 miles south of us last night.
I do hope y'all are well and enjoying this sport as much as I do!!
Oooooh you've packed a good few techniques in there Sandy.
Looks fabulous - great job
Hi Sandy, your tag is gorgeous, nd I love how you did the blackboard. The glitter heart is lovely too, Valentine's Day needs to have a bit of Glitz! Stay warm and safe! Hugs, Valerie
Your tag looks gorgeous and I love how you have created your background, its yummy! stay safe hugs x trace x
I absolutely love the heart and chain. Those are beautiful. The blackboard look is wonderful also!
Love your tag Sandy!! And you know what, YOUR blackboard technique looks fantastic, to me the end result is important and I think it has turned out great! Love the way you have embellished it too.
No flowers or anything else here either, but then hey, there is more to love than chocolate and flowers right?
You did a great job!!!!
A super tag.
Love your version of the tag and I agree with you about V-Day and Ground Hogs Day ranking about the same. :-)
Valentine's day came and left in my house too....no roses...no chocolates!
I love your tag, no matter who it was inspired by. It is absolutely SPECTACULAR, Miss Sandy. Beautiful design work!
Really fabulous take on the tag, Sandy - the text and hearts layered in the background look wonderful, and I love all the hearts.
And you know how I feel about V-Day, so I'm with you... but I tend to buy my own chocolate just to be on the safe side!
I am so glad that someone else has trouble with the blackboard technique, makes me feel so much better! I love your tag, the sparkly heart is fabulous and you have created a wonderful background. Two down, ten more to go! Keep safe and well. Hugs, Anne xx
What a stunning tag. Girl, I have trouble with everything :)
Hello Sandy, well valentine's day was spent in a class room, when I walked to my car in freezing snow, I picked up 2 roses on the sidewalk, and put them on the table, hubby said: what is the occasion? LOL talk about romantic! I love love your tag, the chalkboard effect, the pretty glittery heart, the key and all the symbols, wonderfully done! Hugs. from snowy Montreal. xox
PS......... you may chose not publish this one!!! I loooooove your permanent blinkie saying there is how many days till Halloween LOL this is my "2nd birthday! LOL whooooo... Booooo to you. xox
Chocolate is fattening, flowers will die, and I won't say where dinner ends up. Totally over rated. lol I love that you worked through the techniques to make your great tag. I'm enjoying watching your progress through these 12 tags project.
Ah,this tag is fantastic! The pretty hearts on the background, lace, blackboard, big sparkly hearts, ....I love all that and the more I see this stuff, the more I want to do it too!
Wish you a nice sunday....
Fabulous tag Sandy I love your interpretation of Tim's tag. Your non-blackboard technique is fabulous too! Sending hugs from England, Susan xx
HI Sandy, just me playing catch up again. Great tag, love your chalkboard technique - just like the real thing!
Love your tag and great job with the chalkboard. No card or flowers for me either........my husband said you know I love you anyway.......hmmmm, right.........lol Annette x
LOVE Your tag Sandy...the background script & your blackboard technique looks fabulous...Beautiful design...I got chocolates and now I've gone and ate them so my waistline is suffering (lol) Hugs May x x x
Well, I haven't seen Tim's tag but this is fabulous! Everything has to do with hearts, even the key to my heart. Brilliant design and I like those background hearts and all the different kind of chipboard ones. I think I am going to go to his site and check this out... I'd like to follow along and do his tags because this is lovely! Thanks for the inspiration my friend!
Love your Valentine Tag Sandy...great colours and is that key the key to your heart??
we have our first sunny day for ages and NO rain..but making the most of it as the rain is back again tomorrow....
You are a total character! Valentines ranks with groundhogs. Oh yes!!! No flowers, chocolates or dinner but I did get lunch. Anyway your tag is gorgeous!!!! I love every square inch of it. Between you and I Tim could travel the world! LOL! Oh and I've been reading nonstop. Two Betty Smith's books done and I loved them! Thanks for the recommendations.
Hello Sandy your tag is gorgeous, lovely colours and design.
Yes the weather is so awful in the South of England Sandy, it's heartbreaking for those who are victims, we have been lucky up here in the Highlands, long may it last, hugs Kate x
Fabulous tag Sandy, love all the techniques you have used. You made me chuckle with your thoughts on Valentines Day, I do hope you had a good day chocolates or not. We have had a lovely sunny day here today, no rain, no wind it has been really nice for a change. Hope you have had a good weekend.
Hope you stayed safe after your snow - no more acrobatics from you or anything!
Aww - I really like your tag full of hearts. No idea with the blackboard technique is - but what you've put on your card certainly looks like one, so I give you TOP MARKS!
Hugs to you my friend, Sarn xxx
Awesome tag! Hearts are my favorite image. So you batted a thousand there for me.
You can sure tell I'm not a native North Dakotan as I have done nothing but complain about the sub-zero temps here. When you live 50 miles from the Canadian border "Canadian cold front" takes on a whole new meaning! Tomorrow is supposed to be 42º!!
Have a great week Sandy!
You scored big with this TH tag, Miss! I always love seeing how all of you adapt his techniques with the supplies you have. To me that takes more creativity, than just following persazkly as he does it. (Like that word?) I hear some locals felt the quake, but we didn't know about it, until a blogger emailed me. I was prob'ly asleep. Had to laugh about your funding TH's UK trip. His stuff ain't cheap, is it? I love your tag, the bright hearts & the key. For somebody who doesn't like Hearts day, you did swell! TFS & our snow is still patchy around the area. I'm ready for it to Be GONE! Hugs.
oh hun, what a cracker this is just brilliant, love how you adapt the techniques, hun so much more creative, and really shows in your amazing work my friend massive hugs Cherylxxxxxx
I think your tag is great. I don't have all that stuff Tim has either.
As for Valentine's Day... I'm with you.. almost as much fun as Ground Hog's day. The best part is 1/2 price candy the day after. :)
I loved the tag ! Chalkboard technique and glitter hearts look wonderful on bg !
Love your tag, Sandy. I always think it's almost more fun when we don't have everything we need - allows us to stretch our brains! No flowers etc. here either! My girlfriend did give my a lovely rose made beautifully out of coloured marsh mellows! Like an idiot I ate it. YUK! So that's it for this year. :o) Thanks so much for dropping into my blog when I haven't been visiting anyone. You are such a sweetie. Take care. big hugs, Donna
Your tag looks gorgeous. Your blackboard looks fantastic!
Awesome tag! Love it! Thanks so much for stopping by my blog and leaving so many wonderful comments! You really brightened my cold and snowy Monday morning!
Such a gorgeous tag with that lovely glittering heart. Great techniques as well. Thank you for the lovely comments you have left on my blog about my faces.
Hi Sandy :-). I love your take on Tim's tag. It's great to improvise too. Thank you for your kind comment on my blog. Check out the videos and of course you an case. We are all here to inspire one another x
oh you made me laugh! You and me both Sandy!!! lol Fabulous Valentine tag… did you make Valentines for the grands? We had a party here and had lots of fun making stuff at the last minute! ugh… that's me! I didn't get pictures though… hard to do everything! My theory….buy your own chocolate! lol Happy week to you!
Sandy you made me chuckle to read that you financed Mr Holtz's trip to the U.K. - so funny!
Good on you for finding a technique that suited you because your tag is fabulous, love those ever so sparkly hearts.
Seriously, did you place an order after viewing my altered papier mache suitcase, if that is true then you made my day (not that I personally reap any benefits - just nice to know that you fell in love with the stamps.)
Have a great week.
That's a fantastic take on Tim's tag. Love the hearts.
Great tag, Sandy. i am going to join in on a couple of these this year.
They look so fun and I think I would learn a lot by making them.
Yours is lovely and I chuckled when you wrote that you made for Tim's trip to England. lol
Fabulous!! Love your style on this Tim tag!! The layers of background and stencils are so beautiful on your tag.I love the chain with the heart at the top. Nice corners. You sure are having odd weather, sorry about the snow melt, we just got 6 more inches yesterday! I bet if you come here to enjoy the snow it would be as deep as you are tall!
Have a great day,
Hello Sandy, it's me again....
just an answer to your question about the little pouches at my Valentin's day post. These are sour cream boxes, sorry i had forgot to mention it.
Ooh this is gorgeous Sandy! beautiful colours and I love the glittery heart and the sentiment looks fab! :-)
Hope you have a good week!
Sue B xx
Wow, this is fab. Love the blackboard effect. Aw, I'm guessing no dozen red roses from Mr Sandy then? None from Mr Duck either but did get chocs and Prosecco so can't complain.
If you want a wonderful Valentine, make it yourself! And you did! This is fantastic and I doubt that Tim could do any better. We still have a bit of snow lying around. It's supposed to be in the 70s tomorrow so goodbye snow. For now anyway!
Well, Sandy, I think you did a pretty darn fabulous job with your first Timmy Tag! (Hmmm, I'm not sure if Tim followers like it when people call him Timmy so maybe I should stop doing that.) Anyway, considering you aren't a proponent of VD (what?), you did an excellent job making a glittery heart love tag, complete with a key!! Hugs, Darnell
You and your Halloween countdown!! LOL...that's fantastic and taking top spot over Valentine's Day. ;) I think your tag is perfect for that sappy lovey dovey holiday and even though it's not your favorite to craft with, you've done a wonderful job with your you tube technique. :)
hugs to you Sandy and thanks for all the great emails. Still loving the 4 deer one.
Awesome tag!!! And I totally love your blackboard!!!! Whatever you did, it looks great - like a blackboard piece. As for Valentine's, had to laugh cuz I'm right there with you. Well, he did tell me "Happy Valentine's Day" while I was trying to wake up that day :)
Ohh wow Sandy! I really love your take on Tim's tag! The background is amazing, love the heart stencil you've used and the glittery heart is sparkling full of joy! The chalkboard effect looks super! I love it! Hugs, Sandra
I agree with you about Valentines day it is just another way for them to make more money. You did wonderful on your tag, love your texture. I would not worry about some of his technique all he want is for you to go out and buy his supplies. Your blackboard look great.
Wow! Gorgeous Valentine tag...love it! Fab text and heart background and glitterly hearts. And, wonderful chalkboard technique! Well done...Sandy!
Well your 'bestest' is lookin' darn good Sandy. Fabulous tag! Hope the weather is improving for you. More storms forecast for my neck of the woods this weekend. Earthquakes tho would really scare me. Have a lovely weekend. Nicola x
wow great tag!
have a lovely weekend!
Gorgeous tag Sandy, your blackboard technique looks fab! I quite like making all that slushy stuff for Valentine's Day, it's Christmas that makes me want to give the whole thing up lol :o) Hugs, Lisa x
Ein traumhaft schönes Tag ist das Sandy!
What a beautiful tag, Sandy! I can see using it for many occasions, i.e: anniversary, just because, etc. I love all the techniques in it, but the blackboard is the best!!! Awesome job. Thank you for your thoughtful and beautiful comment on my post. I really appreciate it.
Beautifully designed tag Sandy love the glitter.
Ooh Sandy this is beautiful, I love your blackboard technique, and the little heart and chain at the top are perfect xx
Hi Sandy, I love your February tag, it is gorgeous! I am glad you stop by and that’s how I found your blog…beautiful work! Greetings from Slovenia
Sandy, I admire your for attempting to follow Tim Holtz. He is amazing but he does use lots of stuff. Things are busy here for me, you know the waiting on a man and I just get settled in with laundry or something else and he needs again. He is really doing pretty good, threw the walker behind a chair and doing good with a cane. There is a lot he still can't do but he is getting there. I am trying to keep up with my friends but still behind most of the time. Hope you are having some good weather. We've had a week of warm weather and now as of tomorrow back to a chance of snow and really cold again for a week, then warming again. By the way,I love your tag.
Absolutely gorgeous Valentine's tag! xx
