In Your Easter Bonnet.....

Boy did Mama ever love the holidays.  Easter meant a new dress with new shoes and matchin' handbag.  Of  course there was the Easter corsage made of artificial flowers that did not fade or wilt.  But the frosting on the cake was  her brand new hat.  There were times when Mama couldn't afford a new dress but she always made sure she had a new hat.  She would go straight to Fain's Bargain Basement and find something to gussy up her old hat!  Off to church she'd go with her shiny black pocketbook hung over her arm and gloves in hand.   Did I tell you that Mama walked to church?  When the weather was bad, she would spring for a Bluebird Taxi Cab.  Sweet memories,  why I can hear Perry Como singing right now - "IN YOUR EASTER BONNET, WITH ALL THE  FRILLS UPON IT" ..........

"IN THE EASTER PARADE"

"ON THE AVENUE"  . . .  What avenue?

First let me tell you that the purtty little girl you see in her Easter Bonnet came from Miss Peggy at Peggy Loves Vintage . I adore all her images - they are delightful to work with and so nostalgic. They take me right back to my Mama's life and such wonderful memories.  And the cute little sign post I bought from Diana.

This card is my entry for Inventory Challenge #25 and I know my team mates have some wonderful cards posted on their blogs!

Hello Sandy, first thing that comes to my mind, is that the purty little girl looks so much like Scarlet O'Hara. Love the embossed backgroud of your card so much, what a divine look, with the pearls and glitters, absolutely perfecto! The inside is super cute, love the chicks with the bunny ears. And your story, gosh, I would read pages of those memories. You should wite a little book with those... Perry Como, that brought me back to black and white TV, and my mother sitting religiousy to watch this show, while no one could talk, it would disturb Mr. Como!!!!
Thanks for that moment in time.
Hugs. D.

Howdy Sandy! First of all I must comment on your coloring on your stamps......OUTSTANDING!!!!!! Wow girl I'm amazed!!! Next I too loved your story. Took me back to getting all dulled up for Easter Sunday Church with the new dress, shoes, lace edged sox, little purse, hat and the super stiff petticoat that made your dress super puffy. Now that was a complete outfit. Oh so long ago!! Thanks for the memories and have a lovely week my friend!

This is so OUTSTANDING Sandy! The little Peggy image is showcased beautifully with the embossed pieces and glitter. The inside is adorable. Love the chicks wearing the bunny ears and dancin' the conga! I too remember getting a whole new outfit for Easter and the most exciting part was that we got "party" shoes. Not just plain oxfords which we wore all the time, but actual shiny white or black and as we got older we got a pair without a strap on them! Oh, it was so exciting!!!
You've done a fabulous job on your card for this weeks challenge!
Well done honey bun...hugs...Barb

Hey Girl I finally made it! Your coloring on your beautiful stamp is absolutely superb and I mean that Sandy. I have loved every card that I seen since we met & I must say this is my favorite one. Oh that Easter story really hit home! My Mom was not a fancy dresser but oh boy she made sure I had a new Easter hat, shoes, & pocketbook for Easter. I loved my black patent leather shoes. My Grandmom loved Perry Como gee I loved him too. I thought he was so handsome! Hugs, Fran

Hi, Sandy!
And eventually I made it to your blog. But I've seen this beauty of yours a couple of days ago; I couldn't help, I had to peek before starting my week-end visits and leaving comments. I have a busy calendar these days with my little one 's kindergarten socializing hours and so.
What a sweet story you came up with again. For me it is like watching an old movie and tried to visualize the charm of those hats and pretty dresses- well, surely, the hats were important, who cared about the dress or shoes?:)) I really felt for a moment the magic of those days. And I have to insist on you writing a book. Please, just sit down and put whatever comes first to your mind. Let everybody marvel at your wonderful style and humour!
Now, to your card. You know I just love girlie cards and your pretty girl here is so beautiful and just a perfect Easter image to go with your nostalgic story. Your card is so beautiful and elegant and the inside just completes the funny side which makes the 'card by Sandy' so special.
You've done a wonderful work of art here dear friend, just a pleasure for the eye and the heart!
I wish you a bright sunny Sunday!
Hugs, Iulia

Sandy, I love your card! Beautiful! I really like the vintage card.. it reminds me of a few I received as a little girl and of simpler times. Thank you for sharing memories about your mother. She sounds like such a wonderful lady. I remember that my mom would always buy me and my sisters new dresses for Easter. My mom is still alive, thank goodness, but doesn't buy us Easter dresses anymore. What's up with that? haha! I think I'll have to bring that to the attention of my husband and see if he will buy me an Easter dress! :)

Thank you for your sweet comments on my blog. Now the pressure is on with my new DT position - knowing that you'll be following up with that I'm a little nervous. ;) I guess I'd better get to work! :) Thanks again!
