A Good Read

The Alpha challenge at the Craft Barn is now on the letter "J".  I have chosen two words - Journey and Journal.  They seem to go together don't you think?

So now I take you on a little journey into darkness and the journal pages I have created to honor our guide, the amazing Edgar Allan Poe.

WHAT!?!  You have not read Poe?  How could that be?  I still remember when I read THE TELL- TALE HEART  and  THE PIT AND THE PENDULUM .   But my all time favorite is the poem THE RAVEN first published in 1845.

"Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered weak and weary,
Over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore,
While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping,
As of some one gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door -
'Tis some visitor,' I muttered, 'tapping at my chamber door -
Only this , and nothing more.'

Now you will have to read this rest of this amazing poem.

Thanks to everyone who follow my efforts and to all who leave such super comments.
Sandy

Fabulous page Sandy. I remember reading the cask of Amontillado many years ago but not the pit and the pendulum so I may have to give it a read.

These pages are stunning, Sandy... what amazing colours, blended beautifully, and the collage of unnerving images is worthy of Poe himself... love them in b&w against that fabulous texty colourful background - fantastic!

And yes - the Pit and the Pendulum, wonderful, and the Raven still sends chills up and down my spine. Off to find The Tell-Tale Heart on Kindle!

Hope your journey back to full mobility continues apace... I can see the mojo is already at full throttle.

Does your face hurt from smiling??? I bet it does. I just know that you got a little bit of your Halloween fix working on these two pages of masterful macabre. The framed image of Poe is AWESOME and the rest of the images flow so perfectly with the sentiments. I loooved watching The Pit and the Pendulum. Vincent Price did fabulous in that too.
It's 3:30 in the morning and I can't sleep, so at least I can smile and ooh and awe at your work. Nice to think of you over there being crafty!!! :D

Sandy these pages are amazing!!! I absolutely love the way you have coloured, stamped and added text. The effect is gorgeous. Thank you for the lovely comments you left me. In answer to your question, the 'splodging' I did was to simply use distress stains and just tap them over the surface so that they leave little splats. There is a more detailed post on the eclectic Paperie blog if you want to see how the splats look before I covered them up . Have fun toni x
