The Far Side

When I first visited Lisa at You Made Me Ink, I almost flipped out laughing.  She had drawn the funniest images and I love them.  Thanks Lisa!   Here is my card inspired by one of Lisa's drawings.

I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas full of love and fun -

Thanks for visiting my blog and you know your comments are so appreciated.

Joe's 8th Birthday

Today is my youngest grandson's 8th birthday.  Happy Birthday Joe!!!   Last Christmas Joe and his sisters spent a week with us and it snowed Christmas Day.  They had so much fun sledding down the mountain.  We live on top of a mountain out in the middle of no where.  There are tons of critters around which I just love.  Joe will be with us again this Christmas and we are really hoping for another great snowfall!!

Under the red and white paper clip there are 8 one dollar bills.  Of course there are 8 pennies, 8 quarters and 8 dimes.  Inside the paper bag is a secret message from Santa!!

And this is the very back - 8 nickels of course.  On the back of the secret Santa message is a special message from Nanny and Grampa Art.

I hope you got a kick out of my creation for my grandson and you know I would love to hearing from you!
Thanks!!!!!

Melanie's Birthday

Today is my baby sister's birthday.  So I knew exactly the card I would make for her.  It tells the story of our lives perfectly!  Melanie is nine years younger than I and YES this is exactly what she looked like.  At least I thought so!!  LOL

Fifty-five years later we have changed somewhat and so have our attitudes.  Of course a good bottle of wine helps anything!

So today we celebrated by having lunch in a really neat Japanese restaurant.

This is the back of the card.  My sister loved it and so did I!

Thanks for visiting and  I would love to hear what you think of my sister's birthday card!

Happy Birthday Nicole!

We are celebrating Nicole's 12th birthday.  Nicole went with us on her own special adventure to the Southwest this summer and I made her a keepsake album for her birthday.  I plead guilty, I made it out of paper lunch bags.

I would like to tell you a little about the front of this card.  Princess Tilda is wearing a real turquoise necklace - stones I purchased in New Mexico.  The horizontal stones were purchased at the same time.  The feathers in Tilda's headdress are real bird feathers from around my bird feeder.  The feathers in the right hand corner are wild  turkey feathers from our property.  The buttons on the upper left hand side came from Nicole's great grandmother and are metal.  The Indian head pennies on the left bottom came from my grandmother.  I have had them for a long time.  So they belonged to Nicole's great, great grandmother. The album consists of several pages of pictures Nicole or Grampa Art took .  I have tied the album together with the twine you see on the right - yep it was tied in a bow.

I am only going to show the first two pages.  The bottom picture of Nicole on the left hand side was taken at Mesa Verde.  The picture on the right was taken at Monument Valley.  The cat stamp and paw prints are there because Nicole was hoping to see some wild cats.

This is the very back of the album using a picture Nicole took at Taos Pueblo.  I think she has a good eye!  She loves cats. The chair and kittens were outside one of the old adobe buildings.

I do appreciate you visiting my blog and as you know I appreciate all your kinds words.
Thanks!

The Dark Side

Inventory Challenge # 47 - Favorite Things

One of my most favorite times of year is Autumn and the fun of Halloween.  Mama really loved Halloween.  One year she dressed up as a witch and stood at the front door with a rubber glove filled with ice attached to a broom stick.  Every kid that came trick or treating had to shake hands with her cold, slimy rubber hand.  Then she would cackle -  BWA-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!!!

Unfortunately you cannot see the magenta ribbon trim framing the outside edges of the card.  Nor can you see the big fuzzy cat's tail.  Boo Hoo .......

The Night After

One Candy Corn Martini please

Tucked inside the paper bag is a  toast from one witch to another!

And the very back of my Dark Side paper bag card ...

Please visit my talented team mates as they share with you one of their favorite things.

Celebrate!

We are so excited and very, very thankful.   Our friend Jacque is cancer free!!!!!!!!   Congratulations Jacque, we are tickled pink!!!!!!!

Christina and Danielle have decided our challenge would be about trees.  I live back in the mountains surrounded by the most beautiful trees you have ever seen.  In other words,  I live in the woods!  Some friends of mine are having a picnic celebrating Jacque's good news. .

If you to out in the woods today you're in for a big surprise.  If you go out in the woods today you better go in disguise .....  Today's the day the teddy bears have their picnic.

A little tag tucked inside ....

And the secret message tucked into the paper bag  ....

Turn this over and you have a place to write a note ....

The very back of the paper bag looks like this ....

I  love paper bag cards!!!!  My friend Cathy inspired me to make this card.  You can see her card here.

I Believe

Do you believe in fairies?   I do !   The other day as I was walking down my driveway,  I spotted a fairy taking his morning break from fairying.     This is for real!!   My husband took this picture.

You can tell by the look on his face that he sure was happy to see me.  Now it just so happens that Christina and Danielle have challenged us to make a fairy card this week.  I could not help but laugh seeing that I have so many fairies as friends.

And may all your fairy wishes come true!!!

Snow Flower

I have been challenged by Christina and Danielle to make a frame card.   I also joined the book club at Color Me Creative Classroom and right now we are reading SNOW FLOWER AND THE SECRET FAN by Lisa See.  So I made a frame card featuring what I believe a snow flower might look like.

Hopefully you can see that this delicate wax paper flower has dimension.

As often happens, the card really looks much better than the picture.  All I can tell you is, my Mom said it looks very elegant and she should know.  After all she is my Mom and don't mothers know everything!

Please visit my talented friends as they participate in the Inventory Challenge # 44.
