Lesson #8

As a lot of you know, I have been taking a techniques class with Tim Holtz.  Unfortunately I did not make it very clear and several people thought it was live and in person. But no . . . it is an on line course.  Here are the three tags I made from lesson #8.

Reading from left to right -  Paint Dabber Resist.  I had fun with this which is done on canvas (thanks Sandra).  My acrylic paint dabber was not light enough and my distress stains were all too dark.  I have ordered more distress stains and I will use white acrylic paint  the next time I do this.
The second tag is Crackle Paint Resist and once again the distress stains are too dark  - I covered too much area with crackle paint and I did not have enough ink on my sentiment. Oh woe is me!!
The third technique is my favorite and I will definitely do this again.  Shattered Stains technique. You guessed it, my small selection of distress stains are really on the dark side.  But this technique was so much fun and will make great embellishments on cards and tags.  Will definitely be doing this again.

I am so glad I took this On Line class.  The neat thing is, I can keep these classes on my computer and refer back to them again and again.  I have several more classes to play with but they will have to wait until all grandchildren are safely home with their Mom Dad!

Thanks for visiting - if you don't have time to leave I comment I sure do understand.  If you do leave a comment -  I thank you!!!!!
Sandy

Those tagse are amazing! The colors aren't too dark for me. I like them! Love that you ruffled the edges of the canvas. And the crackle paint, it's very grungy this way. Those crackled flowers and hearts are stunning! I'm so happy that you're enjoying this class!

another set of Great Tags! When Distress inks were first introduced, I didn't like it cuz I thought they wouldn't work on my CUTE style stamping, but i was wrong. TH techniques can be applied to Cute also. Once i get a job & money, i'd like to take his online classes :-)

How in the world do you find time to do these with the grands around? I am loving these tags you're making, this is something I know I could never do, so I'm living vicariously through you (hope you don't mind). But I do have to say, the third one is my fav...i zoomed in on them and you are right, they will make great embellies!! Can't wait to see what you do next....

This is so interesting to see all the different techniques you're learning. The third tag is my favourite and can also see them being fabulous as embellishments for cards etc. Would love to see the first two techniques with the lighter colours - I don't think they're too dark but I'm curious to see the effect in other colours. Enjoy time with the family :)

I don't think your Distress Stains are too dark, in fact, if I had any, I'd probably have colours very similar to those ones anyway. I really love the third tag though, great for making your own embellishments.

Hi Sandy,
I was one of those people who thought you were with 'TIM' in person LOL LOL
I am sure you will like the first 2 when you can do them over in lighter colours, but the effect is really neat! LOVE the third one and can see how you will use this one on your cards. So glad to know you are having fun trying different things :o)
Big hugs, Candy

Awesome tags!! I decided to take the class to. I haven't done any tags yet...I've been sick with a sinus infection. I already knew some of these techniques from taking classes from Tim in the past but did learn alot about the different inks which will be helpful!

Oh they're brilliant Sandy and with mainly dark stains it can't have been that easy but I absolutely them all and all the others you've made which I've seen in your previous posts. Same as you the shattered stains is one of my favourites, I know I'll be doing that again soon :).

I don't think Andy S has that wood tecnique on his blog, it was part of a class so probably lot, but he has lots of other great stuff there to learn.

Enjoy making the rest of your tags.
Hugs, Chris

More beautiful tags. They look like you had fun making them. I love the one with the turquoise flowers. I like them all but that one is my favorite. I am interested in another class sometime, but my main interest is copic markers. I am not liking this new blogger, can't find half my blogs to comment on. We are going to Trinidad which is only a few miles from here, but beautiful bay and beach.
