It Was A Queer Day

Help me, help me I cried in vain.  QUALM passed over me like the black plague.  I must explain.  The letter for the Alpha Challenge at the Craft Barn is 'Q'.    I went straight a way to my Q pages and gasped.  I had glued all my Q pages together to make other pages more sturdy.  All I had left was a page and a half of Q  and most of them had to do with geometry.  Did I even take geometry and if I did, did I pass the course?!! I had to do something in order to QUALIFY!

Hark, there is a word I know - QUACK.  I love baby ducks don't you?  Now when I thought of QUACK, I remembered my Aunt Gertrude which we affectionately called "The Old QUACK".  Now she thought she was a lady of QUALITY.  A lady of high rank.  All because she had been invited to the Queen's annual garden party.  Following a very old British custom, she wore a hat that the Duchess of York wouldn't even wear.  She thought she had a QUAIL on  her hat but in fact it looked more like a sick seagull.   But I guess you would have called her QUAINT!

Having said all that, I decided to put a QUADRIFOLIATE on my page for good luck.  And then I decided I needed more than one so I used six more - a girl can never be too careful!!!

Enjoy!!

I do hope this makes you smile!  And Anne - I am thinking about you Sugar.
Thanks for visiting and leaving such smashing comments!!!!!!

  7. Sandy, that is so sweet and FUNNY!!!
Love your story and images-don't you just love those stamps?! I wish I had more of them. And yes... I do LOVE ducks, especially baby duck. When I was little and was on a farm, I thought they were "drawning" in their little water dishes-I was saving them, by swaddling them lake little babies, and walking them in a baby stroller. I couldn't understand why they didn't wanted to cooperate, and trying to wiggle their way out of swaddling and run away... :(
Good choice! For a fun page

  8. I cannot stop laughing Sandy, but I cannot be humourous about my comment. All I think about are Q words in french, and I must call it quits, cause has nothing to do with your post !!! that I love very much. Imagination, and the talent to put all this together, with a story to back it up! You made my day. Hugs. xox

  10. What a Quipster you are with this Quirky post today. I had so many Questions about a lot of the "Q" words you used, but I sure loved the one about your Old Aunt Quack, who was a Quality lady. I am still Quivering with chuckles after reading this Quotable post (oh yes, I hunted up the scrabble dictionary on Google, cause I'd have been in a Quandry to come up with all them words! Hope it's nice up in the hills. It be gloomy & cool 'round here, but none of the rain yet. Still got hammering & framming in our attic, and stuff being tracked through the house. Will be glad when this be done! TFS, Hugs & thanks for sharing.

  39. Hi Sandy, what a fantastic page, and I've been laughing like a drain reading your story. All those Q's you are very witty and clever.
Love the bit about Aunt Gertrude, I think it must have been her that was sitting beside us at a wedding reception the other year, this lady had a facinator with white feathers on her head, and my hubby kept giving it queer looks as he got more drunk as the evening went on. I just knew what was going through his mided and willed him not to say anything, but no, he did in fact asked the lady why she had a dead seagull on her head. I was mortified, thankfully, she took it in good spirit, as Alistair was filled with it, the alcoholic kind.
Wonderful Post Sandy, hugs Kate x

Poor Aunt Gertrude, I had a Gt Auntie a bit like that, it was embarrassing when you were about 8 and you met her in the street! She always looked like she was going to a wedding or something when in reality she was just popping out for a few groceries!!
